Bio | Izabela Maroun Mezzo

Mezzo-soprano Izabela Maroun has established herself in the world of classical music and opera through her distinctive artistry and versatile performances. Her repertoire spans Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary works, as well as cabaret repertoire by composers such as G. Gershwin, E. Satie, K. Weill, and W. Bolcom.

Izabela opens the 2026 season with two solo performances of Mozart’s Requiemwith the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, followed by additional solo and choral engagements, including Fauré’s Requiemand Mahler’s Symphony No. 3.

In 2025, Izabela appeared in two concerts with Valen Vokalensemble (VVE). The first, Klang av jul, was a Christmas concert presented in collaboration with musicians from the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Oddgeir Kjetilstad. The second, Orgelets julekonsert, was performed with organist Nils Henrik Asheim and featured Christmas folk music from several countries. During the same season, she performed with VVE in Opera Rogaland’s production Agatha Christie – And Then There Were None, an opera-comedy by Mathias Halvorsen, staged in Haugesund, Stavanger, and Egersund.

In previous seasons, Izabela has presented her own trio projects, Min slaviske hageand Sanger for søvn. She has appeared as an alto soloist in Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater(2024), conducted by Ghislain Gourvennec; Bach’s Cantatas(2023), conducted by Edgar Hansen; and Bach’s ChristmasOratorio(2022), conducted by Erik Aldner. In 2021, she also performed in the concert Miracles Come True.

Izabela’s career highlights include concert repertoire such as Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, and Duruflé’s Requiem. In opera, she has performed roles including Cherubino in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro(2020, Opera Rogaland), La Zia Principessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica(2019, Opera Festival Nebrodi in Canto), and Prince Orlovsky in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus(2018, Opera Rogaland, cover role). She has also participated in smaller productions while developing her repertoire in opera studios in Norway and Slovakia. Her international experience includes performances at the Festival of Norwegian Music (Grieg Day) in Bratislava, the Opera Festival in Oslo, the Norwegian Youth Chamber Music Festival, and the Opera Festival Nebrodi in Canto in Palermo.

Izabela Maroun holds a postgraduate diploma in Music (PDM) and a master’s degree in Music Performance and Singing from the University of Stavanger, following a bachelor’s degree in Music from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.

Alongside her performing career, Izabela maintains a private studio in Stavanger where she teaches students of varying skill levels and shares her expertise.
