Izabela Maroun is a mezzo-soprano based in Stavanger, Norway, who has established herself in the world of classical music singing. Her repertoire is diverse and encompasses music from Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern composers, as well as an array of lively cabaret songs from Gershwin, Satie, Weill, and Bolcom, among others.


Izabela kicks off her 2024 season with two soloist concerts alongside the Bjergsted Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Bastien Ricquebourg. She will showcase operatic repertoire by composers such as Thomas, Dvořak, Saint-Saëns, and Strauss. In February, Izabela will interpret Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater led by organist Ghislain Gourvennec in Vardeneset kirke. March brings “If Music Be the Sound of Love” presented by Izabela with Ensemble Nereides at Operakafe in Sandnes Kulturhus. Following the summer, Izabela will render two of her projects featuring voice, flute, and piano. First up is “Min slaviske hage” at Utstein Kloster, followed by a return to Operakafe in Sandnes Kulturhus for “Sanger for søvn”. The remainder of the season promises additional concerts in Stavanger, Sandnes, and Oslo, among other places.


During previous seasons, Izabela has participated in notable concerts, including the captivating rendition of Debussy’s Nocturnes (Sirens), in collaboration with the Valen Vokalensemble, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, and the Stavanger Symfonikor under the direction of Peter Eötvös. Furthermore, her compelling performances as an alto soloist in Bach’s Cantatas, conducted by Edgar Hansen in 2023, and Christmas Oratorio, conducted by Erik Aldner in 2022, showcased her vocal talent. Additionally, in 2021, she took the stage in the enchanting concert “Miracles Come True”.

Izabela’s career highlights include classical operatic roles, such as Cherubino in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro (2020: Opera Rogaland), La Zia Principessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica (2019: Opera Festival “Nebrodi in Canto”), and Prince Orlovsky in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus (2018: Opera Rogaland, cover role) among others. She has delighted the public with her performances as an alto soloist in Durufle’s Requiem in Stavanger Domkirke (conductor: Trond Korsgård), Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Requiem in Domkirke and Stokka kirke (conductor: Chislan Gourvennec), and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (conductor: Erik Aldner), where she delivered and alto solo alongside Sandnes Symfoniorkester and Stavanger oratoriekor at Nærbø and Gand kirke.Likewise, Izabela has also taken part in numerous festivals, such as the Festival of Norwegian Music “Grieg Day” in Bratislava, the Opera Festival in Oslo, the Norwegian Youth Chamber Music Festival, and the Opera Festival “Nebrodi in Canto” in Palermo.


Izabela Maroun holds a Postgraduate and Master’s Degrees in Music Performance and Singing from the University of Stavanger, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.
